Sebastian can expect rains from Tropical Cyclone Sixteen

Tropical Cyclone Sixteen

Tropical Cyclone Sixteen is in the Gulf of Mexico, about 300 miles from the Mississippi River with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.

Sixteen is not a threat to our local area. We can expect rain and winds of 5 to 10 mph from the storm in Grant, Barefoot Bay, Micco, and Sebastian.

The system is moving fast at 21 mph, and there’s a tropical storm warning already in effect for Mississippi, Alabama, and parts of Florida.

“Since the center is not well defined, the initial motion is highly uncertain,” the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.

“The system should accelerate later today and continue toward the northeast embedded within the flow ahead of the trough. Track models are in remarkably good agreement,” the NHC added.

Tropical Cyclone Sixteen is not expected to reach hurricane strength and will gradually weaken after it hits landfall.
