A tropical depression is expected to form in the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday and could impact Florida this week, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

“By early next week, the system is forecast to move faster eastward or northeastward across the central and eastern Gulf of Mexico where additional strengthening is likely,” NHC said.

The NHC estimates a 90% chance of further development, but it’s still too early to determine where the storm might make landfall on the West Coast.

Sebastian residents should closely monitor this developing storm over the next couple of days as it is expected to track across Florida toward the east coast.
