Week 7 – Sebastian River High School Football Players Spotlight

Matthew Campbell and Jacob Zolecki

The Sebastian River High School (SRHS) football coaches have selected seniors Jacob Zolecki and Matthew Campbell as our week 7 highlights. These student-athletes show exceptional discipline on and off the field.

Jacob Zolecki #56

Jacob Zolecki

Senior Jacob Zolecki began playing football his senior year after Coach Perry approached him in weightlifting class, and he is happy he did because he loves it.

According to Zolecki, the coaches have given him the opportunity to prove himself and make sure he understands everything. The 6′ 2″ athlete plays left tackle or wherever he’s needed.

Upon graduation, Jacob Zolecki intends to enroll at Indian River State College to earn his AA. He then aspires to transfer to Florida Gulf Coast University, aiming to major in Exercise Science with the ambition of possibly becoming a sports trainer.

Beyond the football field, Zolecki has a passion for hitting the gym, spending quality time with friends, surfing, and tinkering with his car.

A cornerstone of Jacob’s journey is the unwavering support from his family, emphasizing their deep and resilient bond.

“I want to shout out to my dad, mom, stepdad, and stepmom for always supporting me in every aspect of my life,” he told Sebastian Daily

Teammate Patrick Hamilton: Jacob is hardworking and will play wherever he can on the line. He’s a good teammate and has high energy. It’s his first year playing, and he fits in well with the team.

Teammate Rox Reiman: Zolecki is tough, a great listener, and very intelligent on the field.

Coach Perry: Zolecki works very hard and has done everything we have asked him to do. He doesn’t complain; he just works.

Coach Frank: Jacob has been a diamond in the rough for us this year. In an early coach’s meeting this year, I suggested he switch positions to help the program. He took to his new assignment like a champ. He just wanted to get on the field and has been a great addition to the offensive line. I love coaching Jacob because he is always smiling and wanting to get better!

Matthew Campbell #25

Matthew Campbell

Matthew Campbell, a dedicated student-athlete at SRHS, boasts a 3.8 GPA in the IB program. He has set his sights on the University of South Florida, where he aspires to study civil engineering while pursuing his passion for soccer.

Last spring, he ventured into playing as a kicker and corner in football, and since then, there’s been no turning back for him.

“The coaches are somebody in my life who look out for me and believe in me. They will always push us in the right direction,” Campell told Sebastian Daily

Beyond the football field, he takes pleasure in playing the trombone, engaging in soccer, fishing, and running. He also cherishes moments spent with his dog, Mako.

A special mention goes out to his brother Alex, Shemaar, and to his parents, Evelyn and Halick.

Lastly, Campbell gave a shout-out to his brothers Alex & Shemaar, mother Evelyn, and father Halick.

Coach Snow: Matthew is a young man who is very respectful. Says yes, No, sir, yes, Coach, whatever he can do to help. Mr. Campbell is a dual sport athlete, has great family values, loves soccer, but is starting to love football just as much.

Coach Perry Matt: Been trying to get him out for some time. He is a hard worker who yearns to learn more about football. Great teammate.

Teammate Patrick Hamilton: Matthew is a multi-sport athlete in IB and manages his time well between football, soccer, and schoolwork. He plays football and club soccer at the same time. He has a strong work ethic. Matthew is smart, hardworking, and happy to play wherever needed.

This Friday, October 6th, at 7:30 pm, the Sharks (3-2) will take on Wesley Chapel, who is currently 2-4; this will be an away game in Wesley Chapel, FL.
