Barbara Ann was born on July 12, 1938, in Far Rockaway, NY, to William Joseph and Anne Sheridan. ‘Bobbie’ graduated from Stella Maris High School in Queens, NY, where she excelled in the Glee Club and was both treasurer and secretary of the yearbook, ’The Mariner.’
She married Edward McCarron on July 5, 1956, and had two children, Colleen and Owen. She raised her children and worked briefly as a bookkeeper and school crossing guard.
Barbara moved to Florida in the 1980s to be closer to her mother and brother. She worked as a bookkeeper at Citrus Groves for about 20 years. In Florida, she met and married Dave Hilterbrick until his passing.
Barbara was very active in national service organizations and was proud of her title of Senior Regent. She was an avid reader and took immense pride in caring for the world around her. She met and married Karl Axelson in 1995 until his passing in 2010.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Colleen Young (James), her son, Owen McCarron (Sharla), and grandchildren, Sean, Emily, Kyle, Ryan, Kevin, and Owen. She was diligent in keeping in touch with family scattered across the country.
Unending gratitude for the friends who shared life with Barbara, particularly Jackie Gregory, who was indispensable in Barbara’s final years.
