The man responsible for murdering Sebastian River High School student Logan Spencer five years ago has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Elisha Charles Martin, 23, was charged with first-degree murder. However, he pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and possession of marijuana with intent to sell as part of a plea deal.

19th Circuit Judge Robert Meadows sentenced Martin to 35 years in prison on September 4th for his convictions of second-degree murder and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

Spencer was reported missing in February 2019. His body was later found in a wooded area with a gunshot wound to the head.

Detectives say Martin was seen on video surveillance picking up Spencer on the day he went missing. During the interview, Martin changed his story several times. He told investigators he sold marijuana and that’s what he was doing with Spencer on the day he went missing.

According to court documents, Martin admitted to killing Spencer after a disagreement over money. He lured Spencer into a wooded area in Fellsmere and shot him execution-style.

During a search of Martin’s home, detectives discovered a .38-caliber revolver, the suspected murder weapon, along with 40 grams of marijuana.

According to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, Martin murdered Spencer over a sum of money he believed Spencer had stolen from his home. Both Martin and Spencer were students at Sebastian River High School.
