SEBASTIAN – The Sebastian River Middle School Choral Program is rapidly growing and offering more outstanding performance opportunities for their students.

Student potential, cooperative learning, and self-expression are cultivated on a daily basis in choir.

Sebastian River Middle School has the largest graded choral curriculum of any Middle or High School on the Treasure Coast.

“We offer 3 separate choirs for our 160 singers: the 6th Grade Choir, Concert Choir (all 7th and 8th graders), and the SRMS Madrigal Singers (auditioned students from Concert Choir),” Ethan Kinkle, Choir Director, told Sebastian Daily.

Students participate in a wide variety of performances including Florida All-State Choir in Tampa, Solo and Ensemble Festival in Stuart, Music Performance Assessment, and the Indian River State College Honor Choir.

The Madrigal Singers traveled to Atlanta to participate in the Music in the Parks Festival hosted by Six Flags over Georgia, as well as a Choral Clinic with the music professors at Georgia State University in April 2016.

This past April they participated in a tour and Music In The Parks Competition to Tampa/Clearwater, FL. The SRMS Madrigal Singers received top honors at both competitions.

This school year (April 2018), they will be traveling to Charleston, SC, Charlotte, NC, and Savannah, GA to participate in similar opportunities.

“I’m very proud of what these students are able to accomplish each and every day of the year,” said Kinkle.
