SpaceX is expected to launch its Falcon 9 rocket from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Wednesday, May 8, 2024

This mission, scheduled to deploy a new batch of Starlink internet satellites, has not been officially announced by SpaceX—however, navigational warnings have been issued by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.

The launch window is set from 10:42 a.m. to 3:13 p.m. EDT, launching from the historic Pad 39A. This mission is identified as Falcon 9 Block 5 | Starlink Group 6-56.

Residents and visitors in Sebastian and Vero Beach can expect a view of the Falcon 9 as it makes its trajectory southeast across the sky. Importantly, no sonic boom is expected from this launch.

SpaceX will dispatch a drone ship stationed in the Atlantic Ocean for the rocket’s first stage landing. This technique has become a hallmark of SpaceX’s approach to reusable rocket components, significantly reducing the cost and increasing the frequency of space missions.

So far, the weather conditions should be favorable on Wednesday.
